Who will you meet first?

Every explorer needs a companion. Meet Kai the Sea Turtle, an enthusiastic newcomer discovering the ocean alongside you; Alucia the Giant Squid, an endlessly curious explorer of the deep; and Fin the Shark, a seasoned veteran with decades of stories to share.

Each has a distinct personality and way of seeing the sea. Curious about humans, they are ready to answer questions, exchange stories and guide you deeper into the ocean.

Ask about mysterious deep-sea creatures, OceanX expeditions, marine conservation or the challenges facing our blue planet. Whether you are encountering ocean science for the first time or ready to dive deeper, every conversation can lead somewhere new and introduce another part of the experience.

What might you discover, see or hear that changes how you feel about the ocean?

The original idea came from Cory Strassburger and was developed with the OceanX Changemakers Community, wildlife filmmaker James Honeyborne and creative technology studio Hybrid Xperience. Presented at ArtScience Museum as a gesture-based interactive, it has now evolved through AI, bringing together AI experts from Google DeepMind, character specialists, ocean scientists and science communicators from the University of Bristol.

James Honeyborne
James Honeyborne is a British wildlife filmmaker. A biologist by training and storyteller by heart, James is the lead creator of many popular ocean-based TV series, including BBC's 'Blue Planet II' and Netflix's 'Our Oceans'. James has a long-standing relationship with OceanX. His work focuses on ocean exploration and marine life, combining scientific collaboration with storytelling to bring the underwater world to global audiences.
Hana Kim
3D artist and content creator using motion capture, Unreal Engine, and digital storytelling to develop immersive experiences.
Anthony Geara
Real-time VFX artist and creative technologist with a background spanning film, games and interactive installations, working across cinematic pipelines and real-time engines to build visuals ranging from high-end VFX to immersive live experiences. His approach blends technical problem-solving with a strong focus on storytelling and atmosphere. Alongside his visual work he produces music and sound design, which informs how he thinks about rhythm, timing and emotion in visuals. He is particularly interested in the intersection of audio, visuals and emerging technologies such as AI.
