Step into the role of a marine scientist and investigate how sharks are studied. In Mission 1, count sharks in real research footage, then compare your results with those produced by an AI-assisted model.

In Mission 2, move from observation into a simulated marine ecosystem. Adjust the shark population and watch how changes at the top of the food web affect predator-prey relationships throughout the environment.

Ocean Research Mission grew from a collaboration between artificial intelligence and machine learning students at Temasek Polytechnic and researchers at Universiti Malaysia Terengganu. Using shark footage recorded by the research team, the students trained models to support the counting process, turning their work into an immersive experience that places ocean research in your hands.
