Sounds of Seagrass

At first, listen.

A struggling seagrass meadow can be a quiet place. Place a restoration mat into the water and something begins to change. Seagrass takes root. Marine life returns. The water fills with movement. Light grows brighter. Little by little, the meadow finds its voice again.

Gather around the water table and work together to bring this underwater habitat back to life. With every restoration mat placed, the environment responds, building from a diminished landscape into the rich soundscape of a thriving ecosystem.

At the heart of Sounds of Seagrass are field recordings captured in Tunisian seagrass meadows by marine scientist Nada Abdelkader, bringing the sounds of a real underwater habitat into the experience.

Listen closely. When habitat returns, life returns with it.
